How to Get a Driving License

Driving a car, motorbike, or any vehicle, without a license in Punjab is illegal and unsafe. Owning a license means you have legal authority to drive a vehicle. Types of Driving License

The Punjab government issues different types of licenses depending on various eligibility criteria. These criteria include whether you are applying for a first-time license, your age and whether you are currently learning to drive. Based on the above consideration, the appropriate type of license is issued.

Learner license

This is issued when a person starts learning and its validity is for 6 months.

Regular license

This is issued to a person after passing the driving test.

International License

A driving license is for those who plan to drive in other countries.

Duplicate license

This type of license is issued when a person loses his license.

Endorsement of license

Documents Required for Learner License

A person who driving for the first time requires a learner’s license. The duration of this license is 6 months. Learner licenses are issued daily. A person who obtains this license must have the following documents.

  • Original identification Card and it’s photocopy.
  • Tickets of 60PKR are required for each category which are available at the Pakistan Post or learner permit office

  • Photocopy of National Identity Card (ID Card).
  • Three Passport Size Colored photographs.
  • Health Fitness Certificate for those who are 50 or above 50.

  • Medical Certificate from an authorized Medical center.
  • Application Form.
  • Original Learner license.
  • Required Amount tickets pasted on documents.
  • PKR 180 STR form is deposited in the branch after passing the test.

Note : The fee schedule for a Regular license is valid for 5 Years.

Documents Required for Obtaining an International License

The following Documents are required to obtain an International license.

  • Attested photocopy of ID card.
  • Attested copy of the authentic license.
  • Two passport-size colored photographs attested from both sides.
  • An attested passport copy, valid for six months and including the visa of the destination country to be visited is required.
  • Tickets PKR 22 for court fees
  • Tickets of PKR 60.
  • PKR 180 STR form is deposited in the branch after passing the test.

Note: An International Driving license is issued on the same day. Applicant must bring an ID Card, driving license, and passport to receive the license.

  • Photocopy of National Identity Card (ID Card).

  • Health Fitness Certificate for those who are 50 or above 50.

Documents required for obtaining Duplicate license are:

  • Photocopy of National Identity Card (ID Card).
  • Two Passport Size Colored photographs.
  • Health Fitness Certificate for those who are 50 or above 50.
  • Medical Certificate from an authorized Medical center.
  • Application Form.
  • Get a report from the computer section for a computerized license
  • Diary of the report of misplaced license from the relevant police station and submit within 15 days.
  • Tickets of PKR 150 are pasted on documents.
  • PKR 180 STR form is deposited in the branch after passing the test.

Endorsement license

Documents required are:

  • Endorsement Form.
  • Photocopy of National Identity Card (ID Card).
  • Two Passport Size Colored photographs.
  • Health Fitness Certificate for those who are 50 or above 50.
  • Medical Certificate from an authorized Medical center.
  • Original learner license.
  • Former license.
  • Relevant categories of tickets are pasted on documents.
